Uber announcement new travel and charter services for its platform in an effort to expand its business model and improve the overall travel experience.

2022 is the year people finally get out and travel again, with Americans planning to spend an average of $2,353 on their next trip.

With one of the busiest travel seasons, Uber decided to expand its services to meet many of these growing travel needs.

Here are the new services that Uber will offer its users:

Uber trips

Uber Travel is a new feature that is available now in the United States and will soon be available in Canada. This feature allows consumers to connect their Gmail routes to the Uber app, where they can coordinate rides, flights, and hotel and restaurant reservations.

Uber calls this process a “stress-free travel experience.” People who book with Uber Travel will receive 10% Uber Cash Back for each ride booked.

Uber Charter

Uber is looking to expand on its longstanding interest in party buses with a new product called Uber Charter. This is for clients planning weddings, work trips, wine tastings…anything that requires moving a large group of people.

Now, these reservations can be made through the Uber app with upfront pricing. Uber Charter will launch “across the United States” later this summer.

Uber is focused on growing demand for large gatherings this year. For the past 2 years, people just haven’t been able to gather in large groups. Weddings, ceremonies and celebrations have all had to be cancelled.

Now that we’re in a post-pandemic world, Uber is hoping its charter service will take off.

Vouchers for events

Users can now cover the cost of rides for event guests with vouchers. The host will enter the event details, the maximum amount they want to pay, and share the generated code with their guests.

Guests will determine their own pick-up and drop-off times and chosen location.

EV Hub and charging card

Uber has announced a new in-app system for drivers looking for more information about electric vehicles. The EV Hub is billed as “a one-stop-shop where they (drivers) can get information and incentives to join the electric revolution, and even compare the cost of owning an EV with a non-EV.”

Uber is also adding a charging map to the Uber Driver app, which shows where the nearest EV chargers are, what the charging speeds are, and how to get there.

Uber Comfort Electric

Uber is rolling out Electric Comfort, which allows users to ride in a premium electric vehicle, such as a Tesla or Polestar. The feature is available Tuesday in Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego and Dubai, and is expected to expand to other markets soon.

Uber Eats in stadiums

Uber is rolling out on-site orders on Uber Eats and Postmates in select stadiums in the United States and France. Users will be able to place their orders in the concessions of their respective stadiums and avoid the queues to pick up their order when it is ready.

Uber Eats at Stadiums is available in California at Dodger Stadium and Angel Stadium; in New York at Yankee Stadium; in Washington, DC at Capital One Arena; in Houston at Minute Maid Park; in San Jose, California at PayPal Park; and in Rennes, France, at Roazhon Park.
