VIENTIANE (Vientiane Times/Asia News Network): The Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism plans to partner with Booknea Inc, a Lao online travel agency, to promote tourism growth by advertising services through the Booknea app.
For several years, advertising and information in the tourism sector has not developed to the best of tour operators and tourists themselves due to a lack of cooperation between the state and the private sector, the Director General of the Department of Tourism Management said the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, Darany Phommavongsa.
She was speaking at a presentation given by Booknea to explain the benefits of its app, which allows tourists to access a range of online services.
“It is clear that the direction and plans of the company are in line with the objectives of improving tourism.”
“With this app, we will publish, advertise and disseminate travel industry information to stimulate tourism development and benefit from digital applications,” she said.
Using the Booknea travel app will allow the tourism industry to grow further. The government sees this as a useful form of cooperation to promote business growth and socio-economic development in general, she added.
“The app will allow us to merge our tourism development policy with modern methods of online advertising and use, and will be an efficient way to provide information to tourists.”
Director General of the Ministry’s Media Department, Somsavath Phongsa, spoke about the importance of cooperation between Booknea and the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism.
He said they shared the same goal of developing tourism in a modern way through the use of online systems.
“Of course, when it comes from Laos, people from other countries will definitely use the app and can learn about the tourist services offered here,” Somsavath said.
Booknea is a Lao app that offers a choice of cheap hotels, buses and trains, all of which can be obtained by downloading the app
