The refresh of NZ House & Garden is revealed in the August edition, in stores from July 19.
New Zealand’s favorite lifestyle magazine, NZ House & Garden, has had a makeover.
Editor-in-chief Naomi Larkin likens refreshment to an interior designer appeal to your home: the same content, but with a new look and feel.
“Longtime readers can rest assured that their beloved title remains intact: it’s more of a stylistic zhoosh,” she says.
Larkin has taken the magazine to a new, more streamlined look since taking office as editor in May 2019.

The redesign is fully revealed in the August 2021 edition, on sale from today.
“We’ve made a few changes over time, but they’re not changes in the brand’s DNA. You are not buying a new magazine. It’s still your friend – the magazine you know and love, ”she says.
The new design makes it easier to navigate the magazine, with greater readability and images offering more room to breathe.
The name in te reo Māori – Toitū Kāinga, Toitū Māra – has also been added to the header. Kāinga means house. Māra is the name of a garden. Toitū means to endure. “Whether your kāinga or your māra is a legacy or something just for now, the story of it will endure in our post, in the lives of those who share their stories, and among our readers. ”
Larkin says everyone enjoys seeing the interiors of other people’s homes, so beautiful handpicked homes and gardens will remain a mainstay, alongside other lifestyle content such as food, drink, travel. , shopping, beauty, books, art and new stores.
“Our core business, houses and gardens, remains true, but we expect some people who may have stopped reading the magazine to take a second look and existing readers to be even more. inspired by what we present. “
Larkin credits new art director Sacha Wackrow to spearhead the redesign. “She is extremely talented and innovative, and she has a solid understanding of the brand, including her inspiring and ambitious leadership.”
New Zealanders are generous in sharing their inspiring homes with readers and this generosity is exemplified by the huge success of the NZ House & Garden Tours, Larkin says.
