Fitness and lifestyle group, one of the leading health and wellness groups in Asia-Pacific, is deploying a security solution from Airock Digital.

The Australian cybersecurity pioneer has announced that mainstream businesses are adopting the Airlock authorization list solution as a key part of Essential Eight cybersecurity mitigation strategies to protect against ransomware and other cyber attacks.

Airlock implements application control – the first of the Australian Cybersecurity Center (ACSC) eight essential strategies for mitigating cybersecurity incidents – to prevent the execution of untrusted and / or malicious programs such as ransomware.

The Essential Eight – which the Australian government imposes on all non-corporate Commonwealth entities in addition to the already mandatory first four – has become de facto Australia’s cybersecurity standard to protect against increasing ransomware and other cyber attacks.

Many other cybersecurity frameworks, including the US Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC), also recommend application control.

The ACSC recommends that all Australian organizations implement the eight essential mitigation strategies as a benchmark to make it much more difficult for adversaries to compromise systems. This can be more profitable in terms of time, money and effort, he says, than having to respond to a large-scale cybersecurity incident.

With the rise of ransomware, consumer businesses and their customers are now facing similar cyber threats to government agencies, banks and critical infrastructure, according to Airock Digital co-founder David Cottingham and are implementing measures proactive such as application control.

“It is encouraging to see large mainstream businesses responding proactively to the heightened risk environment by adopting the Eight Essentials and developing a mature, risk-based approach to cybersecurity,” said Cottingham.

Fitness & Lifestyle Group (FLG) is a large consumer company implementing Airlock as a key part of the Essential Eight. FLG operates more than 500 gyms in Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia, as well as a range of on-demand digital health and fitness programs.

“Airlock Digital is proud to help Fitness & Lifestyle Group implement Application Control, the number one measure of CCAA Essential Eight, which is particularly effective against ransomware,” said Cottingham.

“Protecting our staff and our member data is a priority for our business,” said Lee Roebig, chief information security officer at Fitness & Lifestyle Group. “The CCAA Essential Eight is extremely important to FLG, as it should be to any other global business.

“Although we use several endpoint security controls, it’s safe to say that AirLock is our most effective solution for protecting endpoints against malicious software-based attacks.

“In addition to getting CCAA’s number one security screening and associated benefits, we now have a very good understanding of the applications used across all of our brands and businesses and can now ensure that only authorized programs are running. ‘execution. “
