Chhattisgarh will bear the travel expenses of state nationals returning from Ukraine

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said on Saturday his government would meet the expenses of people in the state returning home from Ukraine, which has been invaded by Russia.

The state government will bear the expenses of those people, including students, from Chhattisgarh who are stranded in Ukraine returning home for personal expenses, Baghel said in an official statement.

He said the CM has directed state officials to ensure that all arrangements are made for returnees to reach the state after arriving in Mumbai or Delhi on flights organized by the Union government. .

Earlier today, Baghel told reporters here that he had spoken to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar for a safe evacuation of state students stranded in Ukraine.

The EAM had said that the students would be evacuated via countries neighboring Ukraine, the CM informed.

According to officials, more than 100 people, including 70 students, from Chhattisgarh are currently stranded in Ukraine.
